Equipment Repair Day – Thank You for a Fantastic Effort!
On Saturday 27th September, our archery family came together for a big day of hard work, teamwork, and plenty of brews. The aim was simple: to give our club equipment the care it needed before the busy indoor season and upcoming beginner’s courses. By the end of the day, we’d achieved an incredible amount — and had a lot of laughs along the way!
Taking on the Foam Bosses
One of the biggest jobs of the day was re-foaming the sports hall bosses. These targets take a real beating over time, and several had become unusable. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, we managed to re-foam 5 out of the 6 bosses — a huge task in itself.
The process wasn’t just a matter of swapping out the foam; it meant fitting and securing new layers until they were ready for action again. By the end, we had a stack of 30+ sacks of used foam sheets to dispose of — a clear sign of just how much work went into restoring them.

Arrows Ready for Beginners
Next up: arrows! Our beginner’s courses are always popular, and arrows take the brunt of wear and tear. Over the day we re-fletched more than 100 arrows, ensuring every shaft was flight-ready, including re-knocking a fair few.
From carefully stripping damaged vanes to re-gluing new ones and checking straightness, it was detailed work — but with many hands pitching in, we soon had a pile of freshly fletched arrows ready for new archers to use.

Bow Kits Refreshed
Of course, arrows are only part of the story. The 20+ beginner bow kits also needed attention, and our volunteers stepped up once again. Each kit was checked over and improved with new strings, sights, limbs, arrow rests, and nocking points where needed.
This kind of behind-the-scenes work makes a massive difference. New archers will now start their journey with equipment that’s safe, reliable, and comfortable to use – giving them the best possible first experience of archery.

Thank You to Our Volunteers
None of this would have been possible without the amazing people who gave up their Saturday to support the club. A huge thank you goes to:
Steve J, Steve P, Paul, David, Michael, Jayne, Kath, Gary, Kacey, and Hannah.
Your hard work means that our club equipment is in top condition for the year ahead. From fixing targets to tightening bowstrings, you’ve made a huge contribution to the smooth running of our sessions and the enjoyment of all our members — especially the beginners who’ll benefit directly from your efforts.
Looking Ahead
With refreshed bosses, arrows, and bows, the club is ready to head into the new season with confidence. The repair day has reminded us not only of the importance of good equipment but also of the strength of our community spirit.
Here’s to a great season of shooting ahead — with equipment (and volunteers!) we can be proud of.
